What is layer height? What is the standard layer height?

Layer height refers to the height of each individual layer that is being printed and applies to all 3D printing processes It plays a role in determining the level of resolution of your part. Standard layer heights depend on technology:

  • MJF, SLS, FDM - 100microns
  • DMLS and SLA - 50 microns
  • Material Jetting (Polyjet) - 32 microns

You can adjust your required layer height while building your quote. A finer layer height will result in a part with higher detail resolution. A greater layer height will allow for faster and more cost-effective printing.
